Michelle Beck is a versatile and dynamic actress known for her breadth of experience in classical theater. She performed as a company member of the transatlantic Bridge Project, directed by Sam Mendes with a company of British and American actors and designers. The company performed As You Like It and The Tempest at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) in NYC before an international tour, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Paris, Madrid, Germany, Amsterdam, and Aviles, and concluded with a run at The Old Vic in London.
Some of her New York work includes Hurricane Diane at New York Theater Workshop, A Kid Like Jake for LCT3 at Lincoln Center (Huffington Post's Top Ten of 2013), Richard III & Love’s Labour’s Lost at the Public Theater, Much Ado About Nothing at Theater for a New Audience, Uncle Vanya at the Pearl Theater Company, Measure for Measure at Epic Theater Ensemble, The Aeneid at Red Bull Theater, and The Sentinels at 59e59. She also understudied ‘Beneatha’ in A Raisin in the Sun on Broadway starring Denzel Washington and directed by Kenny Leon. The production won 3 out of 5 of its Tony Award nominations, including Best Revival, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress.
Regional work includes Top Girls at American Conservatory Theater (ACT), The Wanderers at the Old Globe Theater, King Charles III at American Conservatory Theater, Seattle Rep, and Shakespeare Theater in D.C., Twelfth Night at Chicago Shakespeare Company directed by Josie Rourke, Hamlet at the Shakespeare Theater in D.C., a co-production of Tartuffe at the McCarter Theatre and Yale Repertory Theatre, Spoon Lake Blues at the O’Neill Center, and The Winter’s Tale at Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
TV/Film credits include: Luke Cage, Manifest, Claws, Homeland, Madam Secretary, Spinning Into Butter with Sarah Jessica Parker, OVUM, Death of a Prince, The Third Option, Ambition's Debt, Fish, and Ovum. She is also in post-production for Sam & Julia, a short film co-written/directed with Randy Harrison.
She is a member of the Dorset Theater Festival's Women Artists Writing Group (WAW) where her play The Others and her novel Time are both in development. She is also a member of Epic Theatre Ensemble's Artist Advisory Council where she serves as a teaching artist to students in NYC schools to develop work centered around social justice issues.
A summa cum laude graduate from SUNY Purchase Acting Conservatory, Michelle resides in Brooklyn, NY.
